Over the past three years or so, Stephen A. Smith has become one of the most prominent — if not the most prominent — talking heads in all of sports.

With ESPN laying off plenty of their on-air talents, Smith’s figure has become all the more important within the network.

As such, Smith wants to get even more exposure.

According to a report by Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, the First Take host wants to cover the NBA and the NFL, and he wants to join Monday Night Countdown.

Stephen A. has developed a big following and platform, even hosting his own podcast independently from ESPN.

He wrote a book, has dipped his toes into acting, and even hinted at getting into politics at one point.

He’s clearly a hard-working guy who loves the grind — and the money.

Of course, some of his takes and hilarious rants have to be taken with a grain of salt, as he has a tendency to talk a little too much at times.

He’s not one to hesitate to apologize when he runs his mouth and says something wrong, but that has also earned him plenty of detractors among the sports community.

Even so, having him out there almost guarantees ratings, regardless of whether people agree with what he’s saying or not.

And given his power with the network and his impending contract extension, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see ESPN fulfilling his wish to get even more exposure.
